Seven Years Ago Today

Do you remember what you were doing seven years ago today?

I sure do! Never will forget! Seven years ago today, God sent to Mandy and me a precious gift. "Children are a gift from God; a reward from the LORD." Seven years ago today, we welcomed Trae Alexandria to this world at 3:15 p.m. at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.

Friends had told me in advance, "You can't imagine the amount of love you'll feel when you hold your baby for the first time." Were they ever right! And the beauty of it all is this: That unparalleled love has grown stronger and deeper with every day. She's no longer a baby, but my love for Trae-girl hasn't diminished one bit!

I love my daughter. I love her creativity. I love her blossoming faith in Jesus. I love her softball ability. I love her sense of humor. I love her for the big sister she is to Tori. I love that she is a living testimony of the love her mommy and daddy have for each other (see Ecclesiastes 4.9-12 for a clue to why we named her "Trae").

But most of all, I love Trae because she is a gift from God for me to care for, nurture and protect.

Happy Birthday, sweetheart! Your daddy is as crazy about you today as he was seven years ago today.
