Homesick for Heaven

ATM's that attempt to "speak" to you as if they were a person irritate me. Shouldn't it be outlawed that inanimate objects cannot claim the use of personal pronouns?

----------

Gas prices in Fresno have risen to over $4.50. Theft from the farmers' diesel tanks is out of control. Today finds the jobless rate at a record high. The price of airfare is about to quadruple, according to some analysts. Foreclosures are ridiculously high. Mainstream members at Woodward Park are being forced to choose between Sunday evening or Wednesday evening due to fuel prices.

And then there's sickness and death and funerals and grief.

Man, it makes me really HOME-sick.

"There's a land that is fairer than day
And by faith we can see it afar
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there

In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest
And our spirits will sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest

In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore

To our bountiful Father above
We will offer our tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of his love
And the blessings that hallow our days

In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

Perhaps the strain of life is making it more difficult to see the "blessings that hallow our days." But take heart, there is a sweet by and by that no economic crisis, grief or loss can touch. These days, the age-old counsel of Jesus rings ever true: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth; lay up treasures in heaven."

Have a blessed weekend!
